Fellowship Ministry

Fellowship

  • Fellowship Time - Food and fellowship have always been an important part of hospitality that Grace Church showers on each other and on visitors.  In the earlier years of Grace, members often met at each other's homes for celebrations and holiday meals. In the 1990's, Grace Church hosted annual Fall crab feasts on the lawn behind the church for members and friends to enjoy good Maryland seafood.  In the early 2000s, members became organized into Bread Breaker groupings to share different courses of a meal and Christian fellowship. More recently, members and visitors gather together after church to enjoy light refreshments and time together before going to adult and children's Sunday School.  Whether at home or at church, the love of togetherness always shines through.
  • Blue Crabs Games - For several years, Grace members met at Regency Furniture Park in Waldorf, MD, to cheer on the Blue Crabs baseball team.  The children especially enjoyed the field's climbing wall, moon bounce, paddleboat activities, and the mascots!!
  • Plays and Musicals - Grace members have always supported our youth and adults involved with theater.  When members have been involved in plays, Grace has organized outings to attend the performances.  Plays and musicals have included Spelling Bee, A Christmas Carol, Music Man, Oklahoma, and God Spell.
  • Easter Luncheon and Egg Hunt/Decorating the Church for Christmas - Christmas and Easter have always been special times when Grace members gather for special fellowship events.  Our Easter luncheons and egg hunts have been enjoyed by all ages.  Weeks before Christmas, all Grace members have celebrated in the joy leading up to Christmas by putting out "the herd" for all to see, decorating our church with greens, placing Chrismon ornaments on our trees, and sharing a holiday meal together.

In the book of Jeremiah – God says, “I know the plans I have for you.  They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”  God has a plan for each one of us.  God has a plan for Grace Lutheran Church.  The plans God has for us are ‘for good and not for evil’.  The plans God has for us all will result in our doing and achieving goals that we might otherwise be hesitant to strive for.
